Clinical Chemistry
Research in clinical chemistry concerns the identification and characterization of biochemical causes to overt disease and to asymptomatic disease traits. An important area is to develop chemical analyses of tissues, body fluids and cultivated body cells to demonstrate such causes. Clinical chemistry research also concerns investigation of the optimal use of biochemical analyses for diagnosis and follow-up of overt disease and for diagnosis of asymptomatic disease traits. Furthermore, research in clinical chemistry concerns development of new methods for analytical chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology and biostatistics. In Lund the main focus is set on the following areas: amyloidosis and brain hemorrhage, regulation of proteolysis, lipid turnover and atherosclerosis, kidney function, lysosomal enzymes and coagulation.
